Chapter 0ne:

"One more month till your birthday, what do you want to do." "Hmm, can me and my friends go paintballing?" "But Noctis, you have went two years in a row don't you ever get tired of getting shot up haha?" "No pain no game mom" I was a little surprised in myself too, 13 years old and I was so exciting about the thought of combat. I hear the door open and I leap for joy. "Hey dad!" I run to the door to welcome him home. "Hey son" I always loved how my dad seemed so cool and never seemed to be bothered or stressed after work, almost made him feel like a cool older brother I never had. He goes to the kitchen, hugs my mother and give her a kiss. "You wouldn't guess what your son wants to do for his birthday?" "Hmm let me guess he wants to go to the stripper club?" "Hah Hah... Funny, no he wants to go paint balling again" "Good I can have some fun crack some skulls and enjoy my sons party haha" My dad washes his hands, flicks some water at my face and gets a soda. "Hey! Not funny" I rub my eyes, a little irritated. "You are such a kid Tyler Richard Scott" My mom chuckles as if to be amused from it. "Then punish me Jaela Destiny Scott" My dad slowly walks to my mom and comforts her in a silly way. "Haha no not infront of Noctis." I roll my eyes and walk to the front door and get my shoes."It's ok I'm going to see Tabby, you two have fun." My dad smiles and gives me a thumbs up. "Smart boy, see hun, I trained our son well haha." I leave before I witnessed anymore. It's July 25th, around six p.m and it's still pretty nice out. The sun is starting to set and the sky is a nice orange color, almost like manga. I walk on the sidewalk to Tabby's house down the street, while looking up at the sky. I have always wondered if aliens were somewhere out there. I noticed something and quickly move out the way, a older kid on bike passes by. "watch where you're going jack ass!!" "Sorry!" People are just so rude to me I only have a few friends I hang with I try not to get involved with other people. I come to her house and hear her in the backyard so I went to the back slowly slowly and saw her and my other friends Greg and Hanna. Tabby sees me and I press my finger against my lips and she winks. I quietly get behind Greg then tackle him from behind."Hey bimbo haha" "Damn you and your ninja stunts Noctis!" I jump by him to make him bounce on his back and laugh. "Oh shut up man look at it this way u get to go paint balling with me tomorrow. Hanna gave out a groan. "Please tell me you're going to a water park or somewhere different this year Noctis." I make a big grin. "Nope, sorry princess" Tabby hops to me and gives me a tight hug that makes me smile every time. "it's okay when my mom thinks I'm old enough I'll come, I totally want to shoot someone with one of those things." She giggles and pulls me down on the trampoline. "They are called paint ball guns Tabby" "I knew that" Greg rolls over by me and gives me a noogie. "Well since I can't face you I'll just do this for payback haha." I close my eyes and try to take the pain. "Come on man, that burns." Greg gets up and pats me on the back. "I'd live to stay but me and my sister have to leave" "Bye Tabby." "Bye Hanna" Tabby leans on my shoulder and softly rubs my head. "I give you an early present, but you have to close your eyes" I look at her and close my eyes. The next thing i know I get a kiss on my lips. "I love you Noctis" I get a little nervous and blush. "Umm I love you too... Tabby" She laughed happily. "Make a wish" I grab her and lay down with her in my arms. "I wish I could be with you forever" Tabby snuggled against me. "I wish for that too." I look in her eyes and it seemed to sparkle when she looked back at me. "There's something very special about you Noctis." I raise my eyebrow. "Why do you say that?" Tabby got excited when I asked this. "You are just amazing, you're exciting and you are the best friend I will ever have." Tabby always had a way of making situation feel mushy but thats what I loved about her. I got up and did a back flip just to show off. "I don't know how you can do that, every time I try I get scared and fail. Could you show me sometime Noctis." I shook my head then smiled. "I can help you but the key to it is have a lot of confidence and faith in yourself. You wont be able to do much in life. Like my father always tells me you can only go as high as your spirit takes you." "See! Thats what I'm talking about you're so cool and smart." I got off the trampoline, it was getting dark. "Alright Tabby, I better get going my parents don't like me staying out to late plus I got to be well rested for those..." All of a sudden I felt her pounce on my back and her arms wrapped around my shoulders. I fell to my knees and laughed. "You're getting crazy." "Well who do you think I get it from get it from." "Eh good point." Tabby gave me a big kiss on my cheek and went to her house. "Goodnight Noctis!" I waved and went back home. The street lights were on and the grayness was beginning to show the night sky. This time I was keeping my head down watching each block of side walk pass by then I had this striking feeling like I was being followed and watched. I turn my head around quickly. Right by the light pole I thought I saw some kind of tall shadow figure lurking behind it. It appeared to be in a hood, but it faded and disappeared so I took a deep breath and just assumed it was all in my head. As a very young child I use to see strange figures in the dark but over time i learned that most of the time it's just objects that make you think you see something scary. I'm still not very fond of the dark though. I walked in my house and heard a gasping noise. My dad's head popped up from the couch, I couldn't see what was going on behind it but he seemed to be sweaty. "Dang it son why cant you be a normal teenager and stay out with your friends late at night when you're not suppose to." I just headed towards my left where the stairs were and avoided looking in my dads direction. "You have a bedroom for a reason mom and dad, now I got to re-frame from that couch." "We were on the other one too." My mom smacked him. "Shut up Tyler." I went to my left where the stairs was and dug my head under my pillow and drifted away into my dreams. "Hey get up its time to murder some people!" My pillow was ripped up from under me and slammed on my head. "Come on dad, you act more of a kid than I do." "Then that means you aren't living enough. There is birthday breakfast for you down stairs." When my dad opened the door and left I got a big wiff of the smell of bacon and pancakes. I scrambled out of bed and raced downstairs for the kitchen. Once I got to the kitchen everything was set, there were two plates filled with cinimon pancakes and bacon. My plate and orange juice was set for me, so I sat down and started slapping everything on my plate. "So, son I have some bad news and good news. Which one do you want to hear first?" This day was going fantastic and I wanted it to go well as much as possible. "I think I would rather hear the good news first..." "Well the good news is we will have more paint balls to ourselves." My dad tried to make a cheesy smile to make the situation better. At this a piece of pancake dropped from my mouth. "And what is the bad news?"My dad looked down at his breakfast. "Your partner Greg, won't be able to join us today." I was disappointed to hear this, he was the only friend I had invited. "Why, what happened?" "Um, it was something school related. I'm guessing grades." "Oh, well at least I got you dad." My dad laughed a little. "Yeah, me and you son will go army of two on everyone all we need is each other." My dad sure had a way of lightening situations. "Ok hurry up and get ready, your mom wants to take pictures before we go." I went up to my room and got my red under armor shirt and a cool vest for some protection. Next was my full on helmet and my assault rifle paint ball gun that came with a battery powered red dot sight. I strapped up and headed down stairs. "Ok birthday boy, get over here and do a pose with ur father." I stepped infront of my father and shouldered my weapon, I kneeled and pointed the gun at my mom. My dad took a knee on my right side and acted like he was covering my right. "Haha epic pic guys." I gave my mom a hug and head out the door. My dad owns a BMW, drives pretty fast so we get to places pretty quick  in it. My dad came out shortly after and unlocked the doors. Right when he hopped in he played rock you like a hurricane and we were on our way. "Come on dad do we really have to get hyped to your old rock songs this early, we still got about an hour till we get there." " Come on its a classic." I just stares at him. "Ok we will play some chill music." My dad changed to the radio and tried tunning in on a channel. The first channel was a rap station. "Big booty bitches, aye!..." Next was a country station. "Don't break my heart, my achy breaky..." Next was a country blues station. "Someday I see my dog in heaven, then we can run the prairies again..." I slapped my face on the dashboard. "Just play your music." My dad grinned, with satisfaction. "I thought you'd never ask."
