sunbeams so bright
as if they could pierce our innocent eyes
and blind us from this world.
but you and I
are already in the midst of this impediment
we have looked into the eyes of the sun
for far too long
and so it has damaged us
if only we could walk together
hand in hand
blending into a bloodied, red sky
and disappear into the grips of the sunrise.
