Last Wednesday I found myself running
Down through Central Park
And I don’t know how long I was running
But when I stopped it was dark
And I found myself outside a cafe
One with a table on the street
I went to go down into that cafe
But then I looked down at my feet
My feet they kept on running
To a place I don’t know where
And so I keep on running
Hoping one day I’ll get there
Last Wednesday I found myself humming
An old song I know so well
Walking through the streets I was humming
Like I was underneath a spell
And I didn’t see any of the faces
That I know turned to look at me
Wanted to stop and talk to those faces
But this tune kept coming out of me
My lips they kept on humming
To a song I used to know
And so I keep on humming
About how you love me so
Last Wednesday I found myself drinking
Alone somewhere downtown
And I don’t know how long I was drinking
Or the faces as I looked around
So I went outside to call a taxi
A stranger to take me home
And as I got inside that taxi
I started crying because I was alone
My feet they kept on running
To a place I don’t know where
And so I keep on running
Hoping one day I’ll get there
My lips they kept on humming
To a song I used to know
And so I keep on humming
About how you love me so
And still I keep on drinking
To take my memories away
Don’t know how long I’ll keep on drinking
Last Wednesday you went away
