One Day

I stood there right in front of you, my body shivers into each word you said.

"This is not the end. One day, when the stars aligned, and we're alone by our side, we can always go back, and start again."

One day.
One day.

My heart drops, and I really couldn't feel
anything at all. It was as if one day ever arrives, as if one day is a thing. You said it so easy, as easy as a father lies to his daughter about taking her to her mommy when mommy's already dead right after she was born.

As easy as promising your kids to go to Disneyland when your company's having a terrible crisis. As easy as a promise. A promise to the future me.

As if promise
does exist
in your
dictionary.
