Chapter 3

Simeon…

(The twin's Escalade---->)

I sat there on the dull industrial gray carpet simply looking as confused as I felt. I was vaguely aware of the people milling about and gawking at our little group as we huddled on the floor right in the middle of the student services reception area... I couldn’t believe it, not one but both of the Chambers twins were sitting here talking to me, looking concerned, and even polite. I think every student and every professor, administrator, and anyone who had anything to do with this college knew who with the twins were. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed the security guard making his way over to us and all the curious bystanders whispering behind their hands to each other. I didn’t know what to do or what to say. I didn’t have the energy to even muster up any feelings of embarrassment, and I figured people were more interested in the gorgeous twins instead of plain old broken messed up me.

“Come on, Dude. Let’s get out of here before they kick us out. Whatever is wrong we can figure it out outside or something?” The soothing baritone washed over my raw nerves and my senses instantly reacted to the calming cadence of that spine tingling voice. I released a ragged breath and a hiccup and pushed myself up off the floor. Two big warm hands grasped my elbows and I was helped to my feet.

Once I was on my feet, I quickly realized how big the brothers were. I barely reached their chins and I was 5’11, but they still towered over me. I let the one closest to me lead me through the small crowd and outside of the building. I couldn’t tell which one was which; they were so similar in appearance. The only difference was the color of the polo shirts; both were wearing loose fitting blue jeans and white Vans sneakers. I never thought that these two would be so kind to a total stranger, from what the grapevine has said about them; they cared for no one but each other. And yet here they were extending their kindness towards me and I couldn’t help but tear up again over how pathetic my circumstances are at the moment.

“Hey, bright eyes, whatever it is, it can’t be that bad. Come let’s sit over there and chill for a minute and we can introduce ourselves to one another and see if my brother and I can help you out.” The soothing voice intoned yet again, and I found myself looking up into the most stunning pair of blue eyes with gold flecks in them. They were totally mesmerizing and I had to drop my gaze in order to try to keep what little of my mental processes that I had left after what Courtney pulled on me just a few hours ago. As docile as a lamb, I let these two beautiful men lead me over to a small sitting area and let them sit me down like I was the most fragile of packages before each took a seat on either side of me. I looked from one to the other and I had to swallow in order to moisturize my suddenly dry mouth. We were well out of the way from the sidewalk foot traffic and from the lingering gawkers from the student office.

“Um… thank you for...um getting me out of there. My name is Simeon Rosedale.” I managed murmur just above a whisper and introduced myself to these dynamic men.

“Well Angel, it’s nice to meet you. My name is Rafael Chambers and the ugly one over there is Michael Chambers, my brother and my other genetic half, but you wouldn’t know it. He is not fully trained yet.” The owner of that incredible voice jokingly introduced himself and his twin. Huh, and he called me an angel, when they looked like they were the ones that just tumbled from the sky. I fully expected to see big white wings shoot out from their backs at any given moment.

I jumped when I felt a hand on my wrist and I looked over to the one named Michael. “So, bright eyes...tell us what’s wrong, was someone bothering you back there or what?” He plainly asked and I had no idea if I should open up to these virtual strangers and tell my sad tale. But they did get me out of there and away from all the whispering people. I looked from one to the other again, and they were both sitting there patiently with mirrored images of encouragement. I sat there for a minute and wondered where to begin this fucked up tale.
