"No way."

"Yes way!" Bridgette said as she showed the girls the small diamond on her finger.

"Oh my god Bridge! Congratulations!" Courtney said as she hugged the tall blonde.

Gwen forced a smile, "Yeah Congrats. But don't you think you guys are, I don't know, maybe too young?"

Bridgette continued to admire her ring, "Well, maybe. But my parents got married at 16 and they're still together. I really think Geoff is the one for me. I feel it." Bridgette smiled to herself.

Gwen knew how happy Geoff made her, but she also knew what happens when people marry young.

"Well i'm happy for you. When are you guys planning on getting married?"

Bridgette chuckled, "Maybe sometime next year. I already know you're gonna be my maid of honor, and Duncan's obviously gonna be Geoff's."

"That'd be so cute! Have you and Duncan talked about marriage?" Courtney turned to Gwen.

Gwen shook her head, "Not really. I mean, in highschool yeah. But things have been kind of hard lately."

Courtney nodded, "Yeah I get that. But anyways, how'd he do it? Did he sing you a song or write it out with shells on a beach?"

Bridgette giggled, "I wish. He called one of our old friends Trent, you remember him Gwen?"

Gwen could feel her whole face go red, and her heart skip a beat.

"Trent? Oh...Yeah. Fun guy." She let out a nervous laugh.

Bridgette gave Gwen a weird look but continued to talk, "Well he hired him to come play for me while we had dinner. Trent's a big musician, he has this small indie band he always travels with." Bridgette explained to Courtney.

Hearing about Trent made Gwen's stomach hurt. She felt a huge lump in her throat, and she began to bite her fingernails.

She couldn't even notice the two girls talking next to her, no matter how hard she tried.

"Gwen?" Courtney asked.

Gwen snapped back to reality, "Yeah?"

"I asked how you and Duncan were doing."

Gwen shrugged, "I guess it could be better. I'm not sure about marriage yet though."

"What's going on?" Bridgette asked.

Gwen felt her face go pale, well. Paler than it already was.

There's no way she could tell them what happened. Not even Bridgette, who's she's known for 5 years.

Gwen started playing with her hands, "I don't know. We fight all the time, over nothing. It's like neither of us know when to stop." She looked at the ground.

Deep down she knew why this was happening, but she could never admit it.

Not even to herself.
