Frank Iero is the 16-year-old home-schooled son of zoologist parents. They have returned to the United States after residing in Africa for 12 years for their research. Frank is unprepared for his first day of public high school. With the help of Bert McCracken and Steve Righ?, Frank learns about the various cliques. He is warned to avoid the school's most exclusive clique, the Plastics, the reigning trio of boyz led by the queen (or king stfu) bee Gerard Way. The Plastics take an interest in Frank, inviting him to sit with them at lunch and go shopping with them after school. Upon realizing that Frank has been accepted into the Plastics, Bert hatches a plan to get revenge on Gerard, using Frank to infiltrate the Plastics.
