Paths that crossed

A soft smile
soulful eyes
from which nothing hides
Me.........
looking askance at you
confused and amazed
I gaze away
is it me or just you?
for once, I know not
what to do.
A beginning or the end?
A lover or a friend?
laughter or tears?
or is it something I fear. .....
or someone , just you....dear and near.
