WHAT THE FUCKING SHIT?

He was engaged.

I slept with an engaged man.

My fucking mate was engaged.

No matter how many times I turned it around in my head, it just sounded dumber and dumber.

''My life is such a soap opera.'' I muttered to myself, drowned by the endless noise of surrounding conversations.

I slapped myself internally, what was I doing? Why was I getting so riled up about this? It occurred to me then that a tiny teeny piece of me, like itsy bitsy, had hoped that things would work out. That I could be a normal Wolf again. But I didn't have guardian angels, I had sinful devils that made sure to make my life suck more and more every chance they got.

Had my mother been alive, Satan curse her soul, I might've thought she had had something to do about it. It was her type of dark, twisted shit to put me through.

Sabine sat next to Bethany, enthusiastically engaged in French chitchat, but it was fuzzy. I couldn't stop myself from looking at her angular shaped face, her piercing blue eyes and her dark hair falling perfectly. She wore this expensive-looking midnight blue blazer and black pencil skirt, the red of her Louboutin shoes flashing from under the table.

And here I was wearing my college hoodie like a hungover teen and I still looked much hotter than she was. He was clearly in it for the money 'cause, look-wise, I beat her by miles.

Hearing her talk about her new shoes was driving me insane, could the French be more obnoxious?

Suddenly, all the heads were towards me, looking at me expectantly. I felt two holes being burned in the side of my head but I didn't meet his eyes, let him stare all he wanted.

'' Hmm?'' I asked, oblivious to what was going on, far too busy with all the voices in my head.

'' I asked how you and Kyle met, I never got the opportunity to hear the wonderful story.'' The sarcasm in Bethany's voice was discreet, but having majored in sarcasm, I detected it without issue.

'' You don't have to answer that, Dev.'' Kyle jumped in, giving me his 'I'm sorry' look.

Thank you Jozie for making everyone even more curious now.

'' I'm not ashamed by it, are you?'' I rolled my eyes with a snort.

'' Ashamed of what?'' Bethany questioned, trying to look sweet but I knew too well she was starting to freak out.

Jozie picked at his fingers, looking down at them, '' It's just... you know... not a very cheerful story.''

'' So?'' Sabine jumped in with her cold tone, disregarding Jozie's obvious discomfort. My fists clenched in anger, who the hell did she think she was?

'' So, just leave it the fuck alone!'' I snapped at her in his defense. Jozie tried to kick me in the shin again but I swiftly dodged it.

Her head jerked towards me, '' Excuse me?''

I knew that look too well. The 'I'm a Prestige and you should bow to me and fear my very presence' sort of thing. Too bad for her, I didn't respond well to authority.

'' What? Did I say something to offend the Mrs.?'' I smiled innocently at her.

Castiël, who I was still ignoring with all my might, inhaled sharply at my words.

'' Dev, it's fine...'' Jozie whispered, his voice pained.

'' Who are you to disrespect me?'' Sabine spat at me, squaring her shoulders.
