Nalago has now reached
The ripe age of five,
She is mischievous, boisterous,
Very alive.
She has heard the white children
Talk of the time
When Vader Christmas will call
And it sounds very fine.
They talk and they laugh
About how they believe
He will climb down the chimney
With gifts he will leave.
Nalago asks Marta
If he will come there
And leave gifts of blue ribbon
To tie in her hair.
Marta distracts her
Then puts her to bed,
With thoughts now of Christmas
Invading her head.
There is but one thing
That Marta does own,
Her precious and wonderful
Red river stone.
Though her heart breaks
And her tears flow away
She will give this to 'Nally'
On their Christmas day.
