Cover me when there's nowhere to hide
Save me from the crashing lightning
Save me from the arrows that turn to rain
Save me from the chaos that beckons in the shadows
Save me from the blackened burns and the crimson stains
that cover my heart.
Wounds
that are fading memories
but can never truly vanish.
Cover me with a blanket of clovers
Save me from the terrifying whispers
Save me from the swinging knife
Save me from the monster in the mirror
Save me when the lights are blinking out
and the doors are closing
when the rain is soaking my skin and bones.
Warm me up
like a blazing fire in the heart of winter
a fire that flickers and waves
but never wanes.
