Chapter 4

GUESS WHOSE BAAAACK!?!?! Hey guys so I know I’ve been gone for forever but I’m trying to get my shit together. I figured writing might help me regain some motivation to actually do something with my life… so here we go

I’m so sorry I’ve been very inactive. College is killing me and I have to find a job soon…. Yuck… anyway…. Here’s the update I promised a really long time ago. Again I’m so sorry I keep taking forever with this stuff…. Thanks to those of you who are sticking around!!! I just wanted to let you guys know that im not going to be able to upload much. Im having some difficulty at home and writing has become something that I barely get to do any more…

Screaming. Crying. People running in terror. Those were the only things that registered in my mind as chaos unfolded around us. Giant boars with small, goblin looking creatures on their backs were rushing through the gates endlessly. The bokoboblins that rode the monsters fired flaming arrows at buildings, igniting anything flammable they could hit. I was scared. I had never seen creatures like this up close.

Link grabbed my wrist, trying to pull me to safety while I wrenched my arm, struggling to get away. Link grabbed me around my waist, pulling me into an alley. I thrashed in his arms, kicking and punching him to get away, but his hold on me was unbearably tight, and it seemed to take him no effort at all to hold me in place.

“Let me go! I have to help them!” I screamed, but Link clamped his hand over my mouth. I struggled to get loose, but there was no point, I was only wasting my energy. I couldn’t move from his grip even though I truly wanted to.

“You can’t help them. Leave it to the knights.” Link said in a hushed tone as people ran by screaming. I saw people rushing towards the gate, Leah and her mother smashed amongst the crowd. I wanted to scream. I wanted to run and help them. But Link was having none of it. I wasn’t going anywhere on his watch.

A boar and his rider started chasing the people and I saw Leah scream as a bokoboblin shot down a man that ran nearby with an arrow through his back.

My hood was falling off from me flailing so hard. Link struggled to pull it back over my head and try to keep me quiet at the same time. I watched helplessly as the monsters took out my people, one by one, as if they were nothing more than livestock. I looked at Leah’s mother who held her closer, trying to cover the little girl’s eyes from the horror surrounding them.

Link’s grip tightened and I felt his body tense behind me as he noticed the bokoboblin take aim at the young mother and child. I froze in his arms, afraid to even breathe. Just as the bokoboblin was about to let loose his weapon, a silver arrow lodged itself into the beasts throat, making him scream with a wet gurgle. I wanted to gag.

The knights of Hyrule started picking off the monsters, leading the people to safety. Link slowly started to pull me out of the alley. I didn’t fight him. I didn’t have to energy to. My feelings were confusing and jumbled and my body felt numb.

“Link!” I looked over to see who had called. It was the first knight, “Get the princess to the castle! Take her to her father!”

“I will. You be careful.” Link replied.

“I will. Now go do your job.” He said with a smile.

Link nodded and pulled me towards the castle, dodging screaming people and monsters at the same time. I was shaking uncontrollably and Link noticed. He looked at me with concern and I hadn’t even realized I was crying until Link pulled me closer. I wrapped my arms around his torso, immediately feeling safer. It was strange that just having him near me was reassuring.
