Steak & Shake at Midnight

It's funny how friendship happens.

One day you're just strangers in awkward small talk,

barely knowing each other's names;

and then sooner than seems fair

you're sitting in front of them,

in a cheap fast food place,

finishing their sentences,

being closer to them than anyone on the earth.

Realizing that the stranger that you could've so easily

missed,

is one of the most important people in your life.

And all at once,

you are so grateful to have them sitting in front of you,

blabbering on about meaningless somethings,

you've heard a million times.

And with a slight smile or laugh,

you thank the universe for blessing you with such a bright star.
