I do believe I've met a demon

It entered on a freight ship in the arbour

Disinterred, I in fright slipped through the back door

Into the backroom of the parlour

Only to see it lie in waiting

So I hastened into armour

To fight or flee, debating

While hidden amongst the weapons, wondering if there are more

I do believe I've met a demon

And I do believe that we've all seen it

But our hearts and minds have secrets

And so we just try to disbelieve it

But there's no doubt that we perceive it

I do believe I've met a demon

And I do believe that it's eternal

And I do believe that it's infernal

But I do not know if it's ethereal

Or merely a manifestation of the internal

So tell me have you met the demon?
