What is the "myth" of true love?

"As I see it, the modern myth of true love involves these beliefs: True love is passionate love that never fades; if you are in true love, you should marry that person; if love ends, you should leave that person because it was not true love; and if you can find the right person, you will have true love forever. You might not believe this myth yourself, particularly if you are older than thirty; but many young people ... are raised on it, and it acts as an ideal that they unconsciously carry with them even if they scoff at it. "    - John Haidt

In reality, love isn't perfect. True love is far from the fluffy, sweeter-than-candy romance that is fantasized in movies. True love takes work - you'll scream until your throat is about to burst, you'll cry until your eyes run out of tears. But you'll laugh until your stomach cramps, and you'll smile until your cheeks ache. True love is to be with someone, even in their not-so-loveable moments. True love is to sacrifice - winning some at the expense of losing some. Follow the stories of three young couples as they uncover the true love myth and put it to rest.

Couples:

Bae Suzy & Kim Myungsoo

"Fine, go. It's just like you to quit right when things don't go your way."

"Yeah, you're right. I'm giving up. Because I'm sick and tired of being the only one trying."

Kim Taeyeon & Byun Baekhyun

"I just don't get it. I've lied to you, rejected you, treated you like dirt. Why do you stay?"

"Simple: I love you."

Jung Soojung (Krystal) & Kim Jongin

"We're just living one big lie - our "relationship", our "love", our "family", it's all fake."

"Well ... why can't we make it real?"
