On This Road

I wander alone

with my humiliation

that's too thorny

with my strangeness

that's too complicated.

I walk alone

on this road

amusing myself

with thoughts of

hidden powers,

lost identities,

fantasies  of unending

possibilities.

I stroll alone

on this dusty , ragged path.

Electric post, standing tall

oblivious

to this creature.

Uncaring,

they've seen a lot;

indifferent for they know

I'm not the first one

and certainly not the last.
