I wake up. It's morning, and my long, brown hair is matted to the side of my head. I smooth it down. My mate is still laying next to me the blinds are closed to keep out the light, along with blankets over them. we had only been sleeping for two hour. i suspected everyone else wasn't awake considering the sun was up. i jumped out of bed, and ran down the stairs. I had gone to sleep in my clothes in my clothes so i didn't have to put them back on when i got up.

As i was about to race out the front door of the abandon hotel, i remembered the door locked on the outside. I ran back up the stairs, and grabbed my key. I heard my mate, Drake, shift and he sat up. His dark black hair was tousled, his brown eyes glossy with sleep.

"You haven't left yet?" he asked his voice groggy.

"No, I had to get my keys." I leaned down and kissed him on the cheek.

"Don't let the others see you. If they see you go out in the day they'll know." he warned me.

I felt a slight annoyance. I already knew what would happen if they saw me. Normal vampires weren't fond of Daylighters. Only, I was one. Drake wasn't, but he didn't mind. He loved me and I loved him, and that was enough for the both of us. His brown eyes were staring into mine my blue eyes.

"I love you Skarlet Hope Wismer."

"I love you too." I kissed him once and left.

I had to go to work. The only reason I work is because Drake and I were planning on leaving our clan soon. We had been there too long, and they were and they were becoming suspicious.

One night I came in and everyone was up early. The had only been down for a half hour, and I had to lie. I told them I went out for a few to get something to eat., After that I always came home and hour before the sun went down.

I waited for the bus. It was only 9:00 am, so the bus was mostly empty. I walked to the far back and sat down. In the morning I still felt the urge to sleep even thought the sun did not hurt me. I leaned against the window and closed my eyes. The bus lurched, and I knew it was just another stop. I can hear the soft foot steps of a man climbing onto the bus.

The foot steps came closer along with a strange sent. The foot steps stop but i can feel the presents of as person next to me. I can hear the slow, raspy breathing of a man. I open my eys. A tall, brown haired male is sitting beside me. He's smiling at me.His teeth were perfectly straight. His brown hair had a slight curl, and hung in his eyes.

"Good morning," he finally said "How are you?"

"i' fine.' my voice was still heavy with sleep.

"Where are you headed?"

Down town. To the Corner Cafe." I didnt know why I told him exactly Where i was going; i just felt as if I could trust him.

he kept smiling at me. But what was most off about him was his scent. He smelled of soap, humanity, and something I couldn't pin point.

" So what's your name?" his voice had a hint of flirtation.

"Skarlet. Skarlet Wismer." if i had a heart beat, it would have been pounding.

"that's pretty. My name is Aiden. Aiden James." his voice was soft.

I looked out the window; my stop was coming up next. When the bus stopped I stood up and began to walk. After only taking a few steps, i felt a tug on my arm.

"do you have to go? What if I give you a hundred dollars." he sounded sincerer.

"uh, alright," I managed to say.

I slowly sat back down. He began to dig into the back pocket of his jeans. He pulled out a black leather wallet which contained a school I.D, a wad of cash, and a picture of what i assumed was his mother and him. He got out two fifties and handed them to me. I took them and placed them in my pocket.
