I Cry

I cry only in the bathroom

So I can see myself in the mirror

And watch my eyes form watery half moons

And see my cheeks turn pink like crushed rose petals

And stare at my gaping mouth failing to hold in sobs

I cry only in the bathroom

So I can turn on the faucet

And dip my shaking hands into the water

And drown out the salt on my skin

I cry only in the bathroom

Where I'm cradled by the porcelain sink, and the brass faucet, and the glass mirror, and the white tiles

They do not judge me for my tears

Instead, they watch me

And hold me

And let my voice vibrate through them

Until I leave
