Sorry its a little bit shorter :3 its just a filler chapter before i get into anything good again.

ATTENTION!!!!i sort of changed some things. My character James has now been a part of the "group" the whole time and its now the Four Players instead of three. I thought it made more sense out of everything. so don't be confused when you see he's aways around.

Riding home in Lily’s car, I hurried to pull on the sweatpants she kept in her trunk. If my mother saw what I’d worn to school, she would have had an aneurism.

“So how’d it go?”

I stopped moving for a few second and just sat there stunned. I hadn’t really been able to think over my day completely until she asked. So in the next moment, I blurted out, “I made out with Mason Richards... Right in front of Erick.”

Lily practically slammed on the brakes when we came to the next light. She looked over at me with an impossibly huge smile. “Mason, the player, Mason? As in, King of Lakewood Mason? ‘Can get a girl in bed with one smirk’ Mason?!” Her voice rose excitedly with every word she spoke.

I just nodded slowly, cringing slightly as I heard all the little nicknames for him. He must have had so many girls kiss his lips. It’s like I was kissing the whole school in a matter of ten seconds.

Lily exploded with giddiness. “He just came up and kissed you? I mean, I knew you looked hot and we did a great job, but I didn’t know the hottest guy in school would go all animalistic right when he saw you. Well I do do amazing work.”

But then, I had to shake my head, and brace myself for her response. My voice was small in the hopes that she wouldn’t hear me. “No... I kissed him.”

Lily went silent as she started driving again, but I could see a smile and her struggle to stay sane. I just hoped she wouldn’t crash the car.

She composed herself, and then gave a small giggle as she spoke. “Didn’t know you had it in ya, babe.”

I tossed on a sweatshirt and nodded once again. “Yeah... He was a really good kisser.”

Lily smiled and shook her head. “I would expect that seeing as he’s banged half the population of Earth.”

“He seemed to be interested in me...”

Lily pulled up to the curb directly adjacent to my house. “Well you know that tomorrow you have to ignore him, right?”

“Why is that?”

She just smiled, “So he’ll want you even more. ‘Absence makes the heart grow fonder’ and all.”

Like he even remembers my name, I thought.

Noel!” Mason exclaimed lustfully to his friends. “I didn’t see her at all after this morning. Where has that sexy ass been hiding?”

“Can’t hide with legs like her.” Zach countered with a smirk.

Mason leaned back and grinned as he closed his eyes, thinking of her long legs, “Damn, you’re right. She does have some nice legs... If only she’d kissed me for a minute longer. I woulda known what they felt like.”

James squeezed Mason’s shoulder, “I agree, but you haven’t seen her bend over...” The boys all groaned but Cam interrupted them with a cough.

“She seemed different in bio today,” Cam stated. “More confident, but—“

Zach cut him off. “Who wouldn’t be with a body like that?” He smiled a big goofy smile. The group laughed, well, except Cam. He seemed way more serious when Noel came up in conversation.

But,” Cam continued, obviously annoyed, “Just not herself. She seemed uncomfortable. She wouldn’t even talk to me.”

“Maybe she doesn’t want you to get the wrong idea, ‘cuz she’s so into me.” Mason joked with a huge douche-bag smirk.

Cam shook his head with a small smile.

The four boys were sitting in the bleachers after football practice, watching the cheerleaders do their routines. Mason mostly just liked all the jumping the girls had to do—jumping jacks, herkies, and just the classic bouncing—but he wasn’t watching as much as he usually did.

“Not sure about that,” James sang. “She was pretty much all over this guy in Rome Civ’. She was all giggly and touching him. Wish that coulda been me.”

Mason stared at James when he finished. “But... She kissed me.”

Mason was dumbfounded. No girl at this school would pass up the chance to be with him. And they wouldn’t be all over anyone else; they would be plotting their strategy to get closer to him. That’s how it worked. He was the king.

Zach laughed and slapped Mason on the back. “Looks like you’ll ha0ve to show her what she’s messin’ with, dude.”

Mason nodded. That was exactly what he was going to do.

When I got home, I immediately began pulling off all the layers I’d been wearing to just make the dangerous journey through the living room. My parents, as old-fashioned as they were, liked to be conservative. Wearing short shorts and a showy tank top wasn’t exactly something they approved of, but until now it didn’t matter.

I pushed a few buttons on the bulky voicemail machine that I begged my parents to keep. It was old fashioned and interesting. It was something that no one had, because everyone was always just looking for the new and sleek. The old machine made me feel like I was back in the ‘90s.

The automated voice chirped, “One new message, from phone number—.”

I tripped and fell over the sweatpants I was trying to remove when I heard Erick’s number. My eyes bulging, I waited patiently for the message.

“Heyyy Noel. It’s Erick.” He gave a long sigh over the phone, but I stood exactly where I was, unmoving, like a statue. “Uh. You looked... great today, like you do every day. I need you to know that. And—uh—I was wondering if you wanted to start over. Baby, I’m so mad at myself for ending things like I did. I realized how much I missed you in my life. Being able to hold you in my arms? You have to miss it too. Give me a second chance...” He stopped, and I felt my heart beating faster than it should be allowed. “Anyway... call me when you get this. See you at school.”

A long beep signified the end of the message and I toppled over once again. It took me a moment to realize why I was getting a message. If he wanted to talk to me then he would call my cell, but then it really hit me. He knew that I loved the old machine and loved even more when I heard his voice on it. Then there was the opportunity to skip out on having a real conversation and leaving me to my thoughts after his request.

No matter how many reasons I could make up for him calling to my answering machine, one fact was still staring me straight in the face.

He wanted to get back together.
