I make you up from how I see you in my dreams.

I put you together, piece by piece.

And put in little shreds of my heart.

So you can breathe.

You're made from ribbons of the night.

And I from ribbons of blood

That flow freely with every cut I make on my skin.

You're strong. You're a memory. You're time.

And I'm just a being with a quill.

You're seamless. Flawless. Alive.

I'm dead. Yet I make you to be my better half.

I make you something I could never be-

I make you out of ink.

You burn me with every breath I take.

Yet I can't stop. You're a part of me.

But I can never be a part of you.

You're perfect. Clear. Clothed in light.

The same light that never reaches the endless pits

Of my bottomless heart.

You kill me.

I can't kill you.
