I had been home for a while, I did not have much clothes, so my grandma made me go bare, put my clothes on the clothing line, wrapped me in a blanket and gave me this herbal tea, I shivered. “Grandma…”
“Yes, sweetie?”
“Are you mad at me?” I paused, “you know…for going to see the rock?”
“Heavens no, child! That was your mother’s favorite place, I don’t blame you one bit, you miss your mother and you wanted to see a piece of her…. I am just so glad you are okay.” She blinked a few times, looking down at her soon to be cross-stitched pillow. “That used to be my favorite place, until my boyfriend, back then, he tried to…he tried to kill me Liv…”
I stared at her, “but how?”
“He was mad, because I was in love with your grandpa, Harold, and he didn’t want to accept the fact that it was over…”
“But didn’t you try to-”
“Liv, I don’t want to get into it, it was a very sad day, Hun. I am sorry.” This is her way of telling me, the conversation was over.
