My daughter takes after me in beauty, and that's obvious as her seventh birthday approaches. Her half-brother Drake nears subadulthood, and even he notices.
I shudder, and I stop fretting about the high elvish and the secrets of the royals that my daughter and heir should know. Instead, in the snippets of time we have to ourselves, I teach her how to hide, and where to go when she runs.
She must flee, must leave before she comes of age and Drake can abuse her to gain the ability to control the Bynd.
Must get out of here before her father thinks to imprison her like he has my son. Onlé won't give me details about Liathen, but the few times I'm permitted to visit make clear that there's something more than neglect in how he's being treated.
I fear to ask, though, and he never says.

A/N: Hope y'all had a great holiday! ^_^
I realized I got some timeline messed up (when Berthen was born), but I'll fix that in later editions. This is just the first draft after all.
I'm feverish, so I'll leave it here and hope you guys are doing well.
