Lovestruck

As the waxing and waning of the moon,

So too is the love two people can share.

In the beginning is a fierce passion,

A flash,

Like the strike of lightning on a sunny day,

It is quick to take us in its beauty,

But all too soon it fades.

And what can we do but help to hold onto these sweet memories.

These memories quickly leave the mind,

And are made whole again,

Through the soft sighs of a whisper in the ears,

Or a gentle caress of a lover.

All too soon this too fades,

Leaving us amongst our frustrations,

Allowing anger and hate to enter our minds.

Thus we are driven apart,

Lost in emotions we forget the love and joy we once felt,

At even the slightest touch.

It is only later as we reflect upon our past do we weep,

Great tears of sadness for what we once held.

And so we search for that lightning on a sunny day,

Repeating,

As the waxing and waning of the moon,

Lovestruck fools that we are.
