I scream out your name
in the middle of the parking lot
hoping to find you there.
Hoping you'd walk out of nowhere,
free from bruises and scars —
then I'd run to you.
And cling my flailing arms around your neck,
feeling the warmth of a drunk man's skin.

Yet here I am, enveloped with thick fog.
Droplets of ice cold rain
on a sad woman's mane.
Still, I continue to scream for you.

I look for signs,
shadows at least.
A gust of wind,
a sad owl's hoot,
soft whispers,
heavy footsteps.

But all thats left is a weak engine,
a wrecked hood,
some busted light
and a broken window.
I lost.
And I lost you.
