A new love

She lived in a storm,

Fierce rains pounded at her door,

In absence of her mother,

Wind hollowed through the windows,

As a constant reminder,

Of how unstable her life really was.

Hail dropped,

Like her self-confidence,

Snow fell violently,

Mimicking the words of others,

Cold,

Violent,

Dangerous words.

Slowly slipping on the ice,

That slowly formed at her door step,

Pooling her worries, doubts, and thoughts,

Freezing under the absence of positivity.

Slipping, slipping, falling,

He saved her.

He shattered the ice,

With a simple "I love you,"

Calmed the winds,

With a simple touch,

Stopped the hail,

With a simple kiss,

Caught the snow flakes,

Taking on the bitterness of the winter,

So, she could thaw like the spring.

Loving her,

So, she could learn to love herself.

He nurtured her,

The way a gardener does,

To his growing seeds.

He kept the ground thawed,

So, she could take root.

He kept the frost off,

So, her stem could grow,

He kept the sun shining,

So, her flowers could finally bloom.

She lived in a storm,

And he changed the weather.
