What do I say
When writing about me?
Do I tell of what I am,
Or of what I want to be?
Do I confess I’m a writer?
A poet, too?
Do I share that I think too much?
That I’m stuck with what to do?
Do I tell you I’m happy?
And expect you to care?
Do I tell you I’m sad?
When it’s my burden to bear?
Do I tell you I love books?
And hope to teach them soon?
That I spend most nights awake,
Just looking at the moon?
Do I tell you the truth?
That I don’t know who I am?
That I doubt I will ever will?
I will tell you nothing.
Because I know you don’t give a damn.
