Just A Dream

Dreams become reality, and reality becomes life. Life becomes a nightmare. Why though? Why has life been scheduled – planned to make everyone suffer? When will there be peace? When will the war human kind fights daily end?  When looking up at the cloudless blue sky, the rays of light hit your face, smothering you with emotions of happiness and joy.

You absorb it, taking it all in. But then darkness tolls over and takes over the sun, as drops of tears drown out your screams of pain, of torture. That sun won’t be seen again till the darkness leaves. Yet the question that remains unanswered lingers in the atmosphere.

When will we see the light, the happiness, the joy once again?

The darkness radiates off of everyone. I see it in the people I talk to, the people who walk by me, and the people who hurt me. Not once have I seen someone innocent. There is no such thing as innocence. The term innocence has never entered my brain. The definition is just a bunch of words mashed together, to form a lie within its depths. What is innocence? Aren’t we just all full of evil?

We think we live in a world that is safe. That we can walk around the corner of a street and not expect anything bad to happen, that we’ll be able to go home safely. But I can’t see that. I can’t believe that. Because as I passed a corner in the hell that I’m trapped in, the devils minions rose from their home.

“Hey, you!” A voice shouted from behind me. I froze. Not again. My body tensed up as I heard the footsteps. Shaking my head in denial, I continued walking at a fast pace, hoping they weren’t talking to me. This school caused me headaches that burned my brain, killing me slowly. The effects it had on me were never good. I slightly turned my head around to look behind me. It didn’t shock me when I saw the two of them marching towards me. But as per usual, my heart jumped at the looks on their faces. Whatever they had planned, I didn’t want to be a part of it.

“Damn dude, she’s getting away!” The voice exclaimed, the sounds of our shoes slamming against the cold, solid ground. My chest rose up and down at a fast pace, beating erratically as I tried to breathe. All I needed was to find the exit. The exit to my freedom. I searched frantically around the hallways and soon found them. Doors. Two glass doors that would lead me to safety were just in front of me. If I only reached out and-

“Ouch! What the hell was that for?,” I shout at them. The guy roughly shoves me into the lockers making me cry out in pain once again. My back crackled at the rough movement, making me cringe at the after effects it had on me. “It’s for you being you, of course. What else did you think I’d do so?” The other guy snickers and starts cracking his knuckles, smirking towards my shaking body. My hands twitched, curling up on themselves to keep me from crying in pain as I looked at the men standing in front of me.

“Just leave me alone,” I whisper frantically, cowering into the ugly lockers. They snigger at my hopelessness and let me go. I slide down the locker and look up at them, my fringe getting in my way but it’s the least of my worries. “Then why do you dress like you’re going to a funeral, Charlie?” the guy who pushed me against the lockers said with an eye brow raised, taunting me.

“Why do you push girls into lockers, Jack?,” I retort and slowly my courage builds up, only to be brought down. He lifts me up by my shirt and pulls me close so that we’re eye to eye. “You,” he says as he pokes my chest roughly, causing my heart to skip a beat. “You are not a girl. More like someone who died and came back to life. Isn’t that right, Drake?”

Drake stops chuckling and studies me with a smirk on his face, nodding his head at the statement Jack had made. He looks me up and down slowly making me squirm uncomfortably, as if spiders were crawling up my skin.
