I walked in the bar, feeling good and looking the same
I bore many hot glances but I felt no shame
It was the last time I'd let him say no
And tonight's rejection was the final blow
Every day I sighed and simpered
Every night I cried and whimpered
And tonight I finally broke
Told him this marriage was a joke
Yet my heart longs to be given a love uncensored
To feel a passion lasting longer than the night
Alas, the heart is a lonely hunter
When there's no sign of love in sight
I've been alone for way too long
It's ceased to matter what's right or wrong
Though I might be rough, hard as a stone
I've abolished this farce that I call my own
A man walked up offering a drink
And I noticed the pale circle where he wore his ring
I wonder if my heart should be set free
But then I remember how its cage came to be
Yet my heart longs to be given a love uncensored
To feel a passion lasting longer than the night
Alas, the heart is a lonely hunter
When there's no sign of love in sight
From my heart I whispered 'no'
Who knew that little word held such a blow?
I turned and raced from the room
Tear staining my eyes, I dissapeared into the gloom
Outside I climbed in the car, slamming the door
Not a moment later I collapsed to the floor
My heart had only one desire
To find comfort in another's fire
Yet still it longs to be given a love uncensored
To feel a passion lasting longer than the night
Alas, the heart is a lonely hunter
When there's no sign of love in sight

This story is based both of of Reba McEntire's The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and off of real life experience. I tried to write it to the tune of her song - a lyrics youtube video is posted to the right.
