Rrooooaarrrr!!!

Max suddenly woke up. It was the T. rex chasing a herd of corythosaurs! The monster was heading right toward him! He got up and quickly started running... The tyrannosaur rapidly gaining on him. Max ducked into a nearby arbor of dried thorny vines. It was huge. Then, he saw the head of the giant creature coming down toward him...

Crash!!

It couldn't get its head through. It snapped wildly, but its efforts were in vain. Finally, it left.

"Can we eat these?" Willy asked as he picked up a large piece of a plant from under a palm tree.

"I don't know, but I wouldn't try," Pat answered. "Wait a minute, that looks familiar. That's a... oh well, I think we can eat them!"

Pat pulled off part of it and touched it to his tongue... put it in his mouth... he ate it!

"I think it's OK," Pat said, "but it's gross!"

After a while in hiding, Max walked out. Nearby, there was a freshly killed Anatosaurus. He had to eat. Max felt in his pockets. He had a pocketknife, a lighter... and the keys to the time machine!

Anyway, he had to eat, so he started cutting part of the dinosaur out. After he jabbed a sharp stick through it and set that up on two tall stones, he could start to build the fire. He could now start gathering sticks and leaves to build it. Once he had set it up, he could try to light it. Max just hoped that it wasn't as disgusting as it looked.

"Lemme try it!" Willy said as he grabbed the piece of fruit from Pat's hand. "This stuff's too bitter for me! Hey, what's that?"

"There was a rustling noise from behind the palm tree. Slowly, a small head peered out. It was a baby compsognathid!"

"Don't touch it... could be dangerous," Pat warned.

But Will was already creeping toward it. It was very small... about one and a half feet long from head to tail. It suddenly jumped on him... It was friendly! When it was still nuzzling him, Pat stated, "I guess you've got a little friend!"
