When Under Pressure

Settling around him, the mist
At first seemed endurable
But as it grew thicker he felt
Like he was disappearing

He yelled, he fought, he pushed
To find a way through the mess
But they didn't seem to care
They didn't feel like interfering

His whole world weighed down
On his shivering, feeble shoulders
His whole life didn't make any sense
So why bother persevering?

He tried to look beyond the barriers
And that's when he realised
He wasn't the only one
Who was crying out in vain

It was when he realised that
The mist had made him stronger
That it vanished, opened his eyes
When he overcame his pain
