i was searching through my old photobucket account and i found some of my historic covers that i made. back in my day, (two years ago) on wattpad, i used to think that all covers needed were text and you're doneee. but anyways, here is my graphic making journey and history!
Stage 1 : The Picmonkey Slap Text Phase (Brace yourself !!)
I first came across mdc cause the whole clubs thing looked pretty cool so i clicked on it. I was immediately interested in making covers so i went to picmonkey and started experimenting. i would literally take random photos and put a title on it and i thought my graphics were legit.
Pewdiepie's face is how i feel about those graphics now ;/
I still think that Picmonkey is an amazing editor for making graphics and I have seen tons of talented graphic designers use it for their graphics. It has tons of fonts to choose from, effects, and the basic tools you need to create a graphic.
Most people had a pixlr phase but I never tried pixlr before *shrug* I literally jumped from picmonkey to photoshop for some reason, I didn't even know pixlr existed back then.
Stage 2 : My pixel phase
I used to make these tiny little pixels that really have no use because they can't be part of a story and can be only used as tiny icons. Pixels usually take a really long time to make since you literally have to make each and every pixel.
Stage 3 : Finally the Photoshop Beginnings
I finally downloaded photoshop and started experimenting with it. At first, I had no idea where to click I WAS LOSTTT and had no patience to actually go watch some tutorials or spend time figuring it out. but i ended up learning how to do basic stuff like where the text tool is and how to place images.
THENNN I kept pumping out graphics but then i took a few months hiatus. Then went back to mdc again.
My advice to newbies is to just keep practicing and literally just make the graphics, i swear you'll improve. just don't stop making graphics, i have seen a lot of people in mdc who ended up studying graphic designing because of wattpad/mdc. Hopefully in a few years i can look back on my graphics and see how much i improved.Fast forward to today where I think I got the hang of photoshop but obviously am doing my best to still improve.
