Poetry: When Goodbye Comes

When goodbye comes,

I shut my eyes.

I reject the world,

And all its demise.

When goodbye comes,

I will it to leave.

Leave my life how it is,

Leave me to be who I’ll be.

When goodbye comes,

I turn my head.

I try not to cry,

But inside I’m dead.

When goodbye comes,

I wish you would stay.

Not leave me behind,

In the field where I lay.

When goodbye comes,

It takes you with.

It steals you from me,

And I’m left to wallow in pity.

When goodbye comes,

I will be unsteady.

But it will come anyway,

And it has taken you already.
