Night time soon fell the first day I was at your home, and after everyone sung happy birthday and you cut the cake, the previously loud ruckus calmed down. I was in your big, blue-painted room with all your other gifts and you were standing around in your pajamas and looking at us all when your mom came in.

"Come on, birthday boy," she laughed, "get into bed and I'll read you a story."

You grinned widely and grabbed a book off your wooden shelf before racing to the bed, plopping down onto it and snuggling into the covers. Before she could even begin reading, you yelled "Oh wait!" and came over to the pile again. I was wondering what you were doing when you grabbed me and went back to bed. "Okay, ready." You cuddled in with me, and the action was very surprising at the time. It wasn't something I was used to, but I knew that I could definitely get used to it. Your mom read us the story, and when you were starting to doze off she stopped and gave you a kiss on the forehead. She wished you goodnight and left, and before you fell asleep, you mumbled four words that put me into shock for the rest of the night:

"I love you, Manny."
