TEN YEARS LATER

I was awakened this morning in the most awful way, with a nightmare. I have one every year on this day. This year, I had some hope that they would be gone by now. No such luck. Instead of living my parents death once, I've piratically lived it eleven times. I always wake up, clutching my chest while at the same time crying. I would say that I hated having that dream but in all honesty, it's a yearly reminder of what my mission is.

After being awakened by my nightmare, I decided to go ahead and get ready for my day. I went through my daily routine. Before leaving my tree house, one my parents had built for me before they were murdered, I grabbed my clean clothes and bathing products then walked down to the river and bathed. It's summer so, to my pleasure, the water wasn't too cold.

Once I was clean and fully dressed, I began some of my energy training. I lowered the human shaped bag that was hidden up in the tree and started swiftly moving around it, blasting it with energy in all the critical places like, the head, neck, gut and heart. Forcing energy into any being was deadly if you used enough of it. Especially if you aim for the heart. Putting that kind of energy into a heart could either cause it to speed up and over work itself to where it eventually fails or it can fry the heart on impact, leaving the victim instantly dead. I could feel that my energy was almost depleted after two hours of training so I headed back.

When I reached the tree house, I floated up to the porch and planted my feet. Now that I was older I could fly, or rather float, if I needed to reach a high place or get somewhere faster. It wasn't something I did often unless I was coming or going from my home. I'd rather walk than fly, it was a great risk to use that power. If anyone was wondering through the woods and saw me, it would all be over.

I know that people from Earth don't live in tree houses, but I do. Ever since we heard that The Conflict was working with the government here on Earth and Zephorians were falling off the radar, we started building this house for me just in case anything were to happen.

When it did, this became my safe haven. The only place on this world that no one could find me. My parents put a spell on it before they died. One that caused the treehouse to only be seen by me and them. It was my home and the safest place anyone of critical importance could ever live.

The tree house appeared small from the outside, it looks like it isnt much bigger than a normal sized room, but on the inside it was much larger. It's amazing what the magic from my land can do.

Once inside, you could see the living room. It had a big pastel green couch, a painted white wooden coffee table, a book shelf filled with books built into the light pink walls and several pictures of me and my parents. A door leading to my bedroom was to the right, on the wall furthest away from the entrance.

I headed over to my room and opened the door. Instantly, I was greeted by Bumble. She's what people here on Earth would consider a "pet". Although she was far more smart and magical than any Earth pet. She can understand nearly every word I say and actions are her way of talking back.

She's quite cute if you ask me. She has short skinny legs, a short slim body, glittering purple eyes and tons of fluffy purple and pink fur. On her back are wings that when hit by light will sparkle like glitter. Her face is rounded and her bright pink nose looks like it was smashed into her face.

My mother had her sent to me by a fellow Earthbound Zephorian a few days before she was killed. Luckily, Bumble didn't reach me untill a day after I came to live in the treehouse. The only reason she was able to find me was because Bumble is a Bumawally, they can sense where their owners are located. She flew here all by herself and found me. There are only a handful of people that breed them and to be an owner of one was very rare.

When Bumble first showed up, I was shocked to see this little thing buzzing on my porch. I only understood that she was mine when I read the note attached to her neck. To this day I still remember the exact words that were printed.

"Dear Henna,

Happy Early Birthday! This is Bumble! I got her from a close Zephorian friend here on Earth. She's a Bumawally, a species that comes only from Zephoria. Take care of your new friend! She'll eat anything sweet and drink tons of water. We love you!

P.s. There are some supplies for Bumble in the supply closet.

Love Always,

Mom & Dad"

That day, I was thankful to have Bumble. After reading the note, I held on to her while i cried. Tears poured down my face for what seemed like hours. It was only when I heard the snores coming from Bumble that I started to smile again. Ever since that day, Bumble has been my most favorite companion.

"Hey Girl!" I smiled and patted her head.

She flew up to my face and nuzzled her cheek against mine.

I laughed. "I missed you too!"

She then buzzed around me in circles and began to sniff me.

I sighed and nodded. "Yes, Bumble! I took a bath."

She came back to my face and nodded.

"Hey, I'll tell you what.. Help me pick up and I'll give you your favorite treat!"

She squeaked and started picking various clothing items up off the floor with her mouth and putting them in my hamper. When she reached my undies, she gave me a squeak and looked at me like, "I don't have to pick that up, right?"

I laughed loudly, walked over to pick them up and tossed them into the hamper.

Once we were done picking up, I looked around my room. It was clean and well organized, just the way I liked it.

My bed is rounded with a pastel green comforter that is covered in sequins. Laying at the head of the bed are pastel green and blue throw pillows.

In the floor, at the foot of my bed, is a blue rug and on my night stand is a pastel green shaded lamp. Sitting underneath the lamp is a framed photo of me and my parents, back when I was young.

I smiled as I saw how happy we all were.

Suddenly, I felt something nudge my ankle. I jumped and looked down to see none other than Bumble. "What now, Bumble?"

She flew up to my face and started licking my lips.

I screamed, "Ew!" as I pushed her away.

Instead of moving away, she did it again.

"Okay! Okay! I get it!" I yelled.

She squeaked and flew over to the small sack that was tucked under the pillows at the head of my bed.

I hopped on my bed, stomach first, and reached under my pillows to grab the sack.

I opened it and pulled out a sugar cube, holding it infront of her face.

"Is this what you want?" I smiled at Bumble and shook it from side to side.

She squeaked and nodded.

"Hmmm..." I thought. "Trick first, then treat!"

Her eyes suddenly brightened and she did a back flip then soared into the air and did a twirl.

I laughed and clapped my hands. "Good girl!"

I tossed the treat up in the air and she caught it in her mouth.

While she was munching on the sugar cube, I rested my head on a pillow and enjoyed the peacefulness. Slowly, my eyes started drooping as i began falling into unconsciousness..
