In the mythology of Melanesia, the Abaia is a gigantic eel- like monster that lives at the bottom of a lake. It considers all if the fish I the lake it's children and protects them furiously against anyone who try's to catch them. Anyone foolish enough to try are immediately overwhelmed by a tidal wave caused by the Abaia swishing it's enormous tail.
