 Tuesday Afternoon, 4:00pm.

"Amirah! Come down here please!" shouted my mother all the way from downstairs

You know what THAT means; either you're in trouble or something bad happened to someone. But it's most likely (for me) to be in trouble. Why? Because I'm constantly stay getting into trouble.

"What I do now?" I asked while coming down the 8-step stairs.

I'm Amirah (If you haven't noticed already). I live in Richmond, Virginia which is the most AWESOME place ever! Virginia is my home. I know everyone and everyone knows me (In a good way though!). I live with my mother who is raising two kids on her own, my brother and me. Now, y'all may think I don't have a dad or he isn't important, but I do have one, and actually sees him only on the weekends including Friday. My brother name is Alec and he's 14. No we're not twins but just bro and sis. Seem as though people don't understand that, 'cause they think we're twins when we CLEARLY don't look like a pair.

"I got some new...news, for you guys!" my mom said while grinning

I gave my brother a look "What she mean?"

"I don't know. I'm confused just like you" my brother Alec said while giving a shrug

"Okay Okay, sit down because this will be the most exciting news ever!" mom said excitedly

Okay now that just seem creepy as ever. Why is she grinning like that? This is weird........

I raised my eyebrow while sitting down "Wait, so I'm not in trouble?"

"Nope, not this time" she reassured.

Alright, something bad must've happened 'cause I'm not in trouble. But she's smiling...

"Alright..so who got killed? I said while sitting back in my seat

"Amirah! Watch your mouth!" my mom snapped.

I threw my hands up in defense. "My bad, my bad, alright, who got injured in a serious medical way?"

"Aha, that makes sense" Alec replied. I nodded my head at his comment.

"Nobody got hurt Amirah." my mom said

Then shoot, I don't know what she wants. Maybe she got me tickets to see Drake! OHHHHH SNAP! TURN UP ALL THE WAY!

I leaned forward excitedly, "Ooooo! I got Drake tickets?!"

My mom raised her eyebrow and looked at me confused "Drake? Who's Drake?" Instantly, me and Alec both gasped at the same time with a shocked expression.

"You know the guy who everybody was joking 'cause of his 5 star gum hairline on the side?" Alec said while texting on his phone.

"And the one who Kendrick Lamar dissed on the song Control." I added

"Ohhh, well no I'm not talking about '5 star dissed gum hairline' Drake"

I poked out my lips and sit back, "Oh"

"Anywho, guess where we're going on Thursday!?" she said once again excited

"Chris Brown house!" I said. "No!" my mom said in a sarcastic excited tone. "Why would I even know where he lives at?" she added. I mean come on, you could be a stalker for all I know.

"We're gonna go see Kendrick Lamar??" Alec looked up from his phone

"Hell no." my mom said with a chuckle

I shrugged, "Uhh, I don't know then."

"We're going to Detroit!!" my mom said pumped

I praticially lost my mind. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DETROIT HERE!!

"AWH SNAP! TURN UP!" Alec said excitedly

I got up from my seat and started jumping around like crazy. "FORREAL?! OMG, FOR HOW LONG?"

"Forever!!" she grinned

Then I stopped celebrating and cheering. Forever? What she mean Forever? Hell nah I got peoples down here!

"Forever? What?" I stood there.

And my mom started to do that stupid grin. "We're moving to Detroit!"

My jaw instantly dropped. Like it literally did

"WHAT??!' I said with my eyes wide open almost like it was about to roll out of my sockets.

"ALRIGHT!" cheered Alec.

Moving? Detroit? Forever? Did she really just say that?! Don't get me wrong I love Detroit, like shoutout to ya who lives/from there but I don't wanna live there!! This, this just too much! Ugh.

I sat right back in my seat crossing my arms. "What about my friends down here? What about school? What about the family? What about Virgina?? I freaking LOVE Virginia!!"

"Psshhh, you tripping Amir, Detroit is where it be at!" Alec said happily

"I know hun, but it's about time we move and start a new life!" my mom said, patting my back.

"But my friends...." I said while hanging my head down.

"You'll make new friends in Detroit! I promise" my mom said while putting her arm around me

I sighed. "When we're leaving again?"

"Thursday, and I already told your school" my mom said

I looked back up to her, "How about the family? What about Grandma Nell? How she feels about this unexpected news?"

Mom sighed too, "Mir, everybody already knows. I told them before. I even planned it too. And Grandma Nell said she'll be alright"

"How you know she just saying that?" I said

"That's my mom. I already know her more than you do Amirah"

I shrugged. "Well, I guess I'll call up my friends"

"Aye, tell your friend Charlese I said wassup" Alec said while looking at me

I stood up again, "Boy, don't even waste your time. She don't go for you youngin's." I said while laughing.

He shrugged, "Still do it please."

"Alright" Then I headed my way right upstairs

My mom looked at Alec "Why you want Charlese? You like her?"

Alec gave a small grin "Yeah"

"SHE ALREADY THINKS THAT YOU A CREEP!" I said while walking upstairs. "I DON'T CARE!" Alec shouted back.

Man, I'm gonna go live in Detroit. I'ma miss Virginia so much bro. *Sighs* I just hope this move will make my life better than what it is now,' 'cause, I don't wanna go ANYWHERE!
