You know how in a roller coaster you clutch the handlebars for dear life and you’re heart is down in your stomach? That’s how it feels when Aria’s driving.

I held onto the handle above the door and screamed, “Aria slow the hell down! You’re going over 100!”

She looked at me and turned down her music, “What? Sorry I couldn’t here you.”

Rolling my eyes, I replied, “Slow the hell down dude. I shouldn’t be scared for my life while you’re driving.”

She busted up laughing and turned the music back up completely ignoring me.

After another 15 minutes of me keeping my eyes closed and clutching anything and everything in the car we finally arrived at the mall.

“Solid ground!” I yelled out as I fell out of the car. “I’m okay…”

“Drama Queen.” She scoffed.

Upon entering the mall, Aria and I were attacked by women spraying perfumes in our faces. I felt like I was in Elf.

“Do you fùcking mind? How the fùck would you like it if I just sprayed this nasty shít in your face!” Aria looked at the terrified worker and grabbed the perfume bottle spraying it at her face, “Doesn’t fùcking taste good does it! Go get a real job. Goddâmn…” She shoved the perfume bottle into one of the other workers hands who took a step back at first in fear that she might suffer the same punishment as her coworker. Aria gave them her special look and stalked away.

It took me a second or two to realize what had just happened. “I am so sorry, I don’t know what that was,” I apologized as I started to back away, “I am so sorry.” I turned around quickly and ran to catch up with Aria. “What the hell was that!”

“I don’t like it when people stick stuff in my face.” She shrugged.

“So you do that to them? They don’t know your issues!”

“Whatever, it’s over now,” She replied dismissively, “Now lets go find you’re new look.”

8 hours and 3 malls later, Aria and I finally stumbled into her house carrying as much as we could hold.

“Derrick!” She screamed, “Can you grab the last couple of bags in my car! Pretty please!”

One of the bags that were piled high on top started to wobble and cause me to lose my balance, before I could fall face first and sprawl all of my clothes on the ground, a pair of strong hands came and grabbed my boxes for me. My cheeks instantly filled with heat and I looked at Derrick and muttered thanks before rushing into the next room.

I heard him chuckle as he made it out to Aria’s car before he exclaimed, “What the fùck! I thought you said a couple of bags! Not the whole back seat! What the fùck did you to do? Buy the whole mall!” He grabbed all of the bags and came back into the house muttering the whole time and dropped them carelessly on the couch.

“Hey! Watch it! There’s some nice stuff in there!”

He just looked at her and shook his head, “Sorry princess.”

“Excuse me? What?” She challenged.

“Nothing.” He muttered knowing better than to challenge his little sister.

She looked at him with a smirk and turned back to me, “Now that that’s out of the way,” She motioned towards Derrick who was still muttering, “Let’s get you ready to go back to work tomorrow!” She looked at me with a beaming smile and grabbed my hand to rush me up to her room.

I looked at the bags littering the ground and then I looked up at an idle man just standing in the hallway eating a sandwich. “One sec Aria,” I walked over to Derrick and with the sweetest voice possible I asked him, “Derrick, can you bring our bags upstairs, pretty please?”

He looked at me for a second and replied, “Sure thing Kitty Kat.” He grabbed the bags and started to make his way up to Aria’s room.

I heard a scoff from behind me and turned to face an annoyed looking Aria, “How the hell do you do that?” She looked at me incredulously.

“Do what?” I asked, feeling completely oblivious.

She just rolled her eyes and replied, “You do know that that man does whatever you ask him? And I mean whatever.

“He does not.” I laughed.

She raised an eyebrow, “Really? Under your breath you mentioned that you thought a pair of Steve Madden shoes were cute, they were under the tree for you a month later.”

“Whatever Aria,” I replied while rolling my eyes, “Can we just me ready for tomorrow?”

She smirked, “Ya, ya, ya…” She turned to make her way upstairs, “Let’s make that dòuchebag regret rejecting you.”

My legs were wobbling as I struggled to retain my balance while I was stepping out of my car. With a slow deep breath I started to make my way into the office projecting as much confidence as I could.

As I was walking toward the elevator, I felt the uncomfortable stare of a certain plastic blonde, “Blake.” I greeted her without even giving her the satisfaction of a glance her way.

She cleared her throat and quickly went back to whatever she was working on.

As I stepped into the elevator I looked at myself in the mirrors that are placed on the walls. I still feel like I’m looking at a stranger every time I catch my reflection.

My usual dull brown hair was pulled back into an up-do and my eyes had a brown smoke that made my usual drab brown seem to pop. My red lips were shined to perfection and my face was dusted to a photo-finish look. My white silk long sleeve button up blouse was tucked into my black A-line skirt. The belt around the middle showed off curves I didn’t even know I possessed. My black Mary-Jane pumps showed off my calves and made my legs look long and lean.

The elevator bell went off signaling that I had reached my floor, with a final breath I made my way out the door to my desk. I sat down and made sure that all of my things were ready for the day, and then I got up to see if Mr. Wright – I mean Spencer – if he needed anything.

I knocked on his door and opened it to find him sitting at his desk with an irritated look on his face, “Excuse me, Sir. Would you like me to go and pick you up anything?”

As soon as he looked up at me his expression completely changed. His eyebrows shot up and his eyes widened as he slowly trailed his eyes up my body. When he finally made it to my face he opened his mouth to say something, but closed it back up.

After he regained himself, he replied, “Uhm, No Kadence, that’s quite alright. But, can we talk about something?”

I nodded and he got up from his seat and walked to the front of his office quickly shutting his door and closing the blinds.
