I hope you enjoy it! Please tell me what you think of the third person narrative I am trying out - I'd love to hear what you think!

Stepping off the plane, I squinted as the sun beat down on me. Nobody said a thing as we descended the plane steps, almost skipping down them, with excitement. It had been a long time, too long in fact, and Jace could barely hold himself down. Behind followed his friends, roommates and family for the past six years. Jace, Carter, River and Zack had never been happier to arrive. Nobody said a word as they made their way through the terminal in an eager bid to see their family and friends. However, much to their surprise they could not see a single person they knew. Jace felt a hand thump his arm. Turning in confusion he saw Zack pointing to a man in a polished black suit, holding a long piece of card the held all of their names. Instantly recognising the handwriting as Lizzie’s, Jace made his way over to the man but before he could say a word, the man spoke.

‘Good day Sir. I am here to drive you and your friend’s home. I presume you are Jace, as you fit the description I have been given. I’ve been told to tell you that you must not ask any questions, as all will be revealed. May I also be the first to officially welcome you back home.’ Said the man with a slight Australian accent.

Jace looked over at his friends, silently communication and reading each others eyes about whether or not to trust the man or not. Jace knew Lizzie was somehow behind this and was okay with following the man. The other three silently agreed and made their way over to Jace. Once they had grouped together, they followed the man in the suit to a big shiny black truck. The windows had been blacked out and it resembled a limo, but not as long.  Looking at his peers, Jace could feel the happiness rolling off his friends in waves. River all but dived in when the man in the suit opened the door for them. Realising he was a chauffer Jace let out a gruff thank you before following the others into the truck.

To say he was amazed would be inaccurate. Jace felt his eyes enlarge as he looked around the inside of the truck. The back seats seemed to be knocked down to make seats along the side of the car. There was a television, a radio two buckets full of ice and beer and pictures. Pictures of each of the men with their loved ones scattered along the seats. They soon started to compare and laugh at the not so attractive photos before Carter spoke.

‘You’ve got a keeper, you know that Jace?’ Jace was stunned, what were they talking about? The perplex expression on his face spoke for him as Carter barked out a laugh and explained.

‘Only you’re girl could’ve pulled this off. Mine’s just given birth and the other two just have parents and siblings, not that special someone to go the extra mile.’ Jace understood what he meant, it would be like Lizzie to organise a surprise, as she always wanted things to be the very best.

Before Jace could respond, the beer was opened and the music started to play as the guys got ready for their homecoming.

The truck rolled to a stop in a suburban area. It had been three o’clock when they landed, and the television was telling him it was five. Jace couldn’t pin the location, it wasn’t his house – and judging by the confused looks of his friends, they didn’t know where they were either. The door opened and everyone jumped out still perplexed.

‘I could ring the doorbell whilst you guys hold the driver down?’ suggested Zack. Before they could devise a plan, a small girl who Jace instantly recognised ran around from the garden. Her eyes bugged out as she saw them, and before they could blink she ran off in the direction she came.

‘I say we follow her,’ shrugged River, as he slung his bag over his shoulder. We made our way to the back of the house, as we turned the corner we received the biggest surprise of our lives.
