*Flashback Part 2*

"Hey, it's the girl who has no parents!"

"Yeah, it's the ugly Cinderella!"

"Isn’t she the girl who smells like fish?"

"Who would like someone like her?”

I ignored it because I was going to run away from it all after school. I packed clothes for me and my siblings. Mrs. Kim would understand, wouldn't she? I wish she wouldn’t mind taking three kids into her home.

I reached my locker, got the books I needed. When the bell rang, I ran to my first class, kids purposely bumping into me, causing me to drop my books. “Ugh.” I sighed heavily. I bent down and picked up my books. I was gonna be late for my first class.

“You gotta be more careful Jin-Jin~” Woohyun said helping me.

“Where’d you come from?” I said playfully nudging his shoulder.

He handed me my chemistry book and smiled.“Somewhere. Now let’s go, or we’re both screwed” We headed to the chemistry.

Woohyun is my best friend. He’s always been there for me and I’m really happy about that. We share the same interests. Singing, dancing and writing. We also loved math. He was one of those guys every girl wanted as a boyfriend. Smart, funny, attractive, and sweet according to them.  He was always asked about why he hangs out with a loser like me and he would just defend me by punching them and getting detention. Pretty sweet, right? And in return, I would help- no, do his chemistry work. This was the cycle ever since kinder. Great friendship we got going on here. I was sad at the fact that I was going to leave him behind.

When we got to class, the professor wasn’t there. Thank God. We took our seats next to each other and he turned to face me. “Ya, Seojin. Have you been getting enough sleep lately? You’re dark circles are getting bigger.” I plopped my backpack next to my stool and I stared at his perfect face. “You should know by now Woohyun, I never get enough sleep.” I laid my head down on the cold surface of the desk. Then I remembered something.

“Oh!” I fumbled for the bottle I found last night in the 2nd zipper of my backpack. I pulled it out causing Woohyun’s eyes to get big. “What is that?” He reached for it but slapped his hand away. “I don’t know yet.” I pulled out the cork and looked for something to get the paper out with. A pair of tweezers were next to our test tubes and liquids so I used that. I placed the tweezers down and started to straighten the paper. The first thing I noticed was the neat writing. Nice. Woohyun got closer to me and I started to read it to both if us.

"Dear stranger who recieves this, I don't know you, but whoever you are, and hopefully you are a girl, you are my soulmate. My friends forced me into doing this, but I am curious too. My name is Lee Junghwan by the way. I'm looking foreward to meeting you one day."

“What the hell..” Woohyun muttered “Soulmate my ass. Huh, must be one of those pranks or something.” I sarcastically laughed and he did too.

Before I could say anything else, the professor walked in.

After a normal day at school, I hugged Woohyun tightly. It might be the last time I’ll see him. I started to cry. Woohyun pulled back to wipe my tears. “We’ll see each other soon, I know it. The world is a small world. Get a phone. Make a facebook or something. We’re gonna make this friendship last even if it’s long distance.” I sloppily smiled and clung to him. He always knew the right words to say. He patted my hair, stroked my hair, kissed my forehead, my cheeks, and finally, my lips. I jerked back. I didn’t know how to respond.

“Seojin…I-I didn’t me-“

“Joonhee and Kyungwoo are waiting for me. Bye oppa.” I turned back and started to run towards the bus that was coming.

“Seojin, mianhe! I didn’t mean it!” I heard him shout out.

I put some coins in and took a seat in the back.

“Kang Woohyun, how dare you steal my first kiss.”

When the bus neared their school, I got down. Kyungwoo was playing with his fingers while Joonhee was reading a book. “Noona! Why are your eyes red? Who made you cry!?” He ran up to me, hugging me. “It’s okay, noona got something in her eye.” He gave me a confused look. “In both of them?” I let out a chuckle and ruffled his hair. He took my hand. “Joonhee!” I called out to her she walked up to me and took my hand. “Let’s go.”

“Mrs. Kim, please! I’m begging you!”

“I don’t really know Seojin. It all depends on Mr. Kim.”

Just then, he walked through the door.

Joonhee, Kyungwoo, and I got up and bowed.

“Anyong hasayo, Mr. Kim” we said in unison

He smiled. “You don’t have to be so formal. Oh, I heard some yelling from outside, what’s wrong?”

Mrs. Kim gave us a signal to wait outside.

I really hope he’d consider. But isn’t this embarrassing? But I’ve known them my whole life. Aish, I think I’m going crazy!

My heart was beating so fast, and my palms were sweaty. If they said yes, of course I would be happy. My siblings would have a more normal life. But if they said no, it would be embarrassing, and disappointing.

I think we waited here for over 45 minutes. It was getting cold, the breeze from the sea was brushing against my skin.

“Unni, I’m hungry~” Joonhee pleaded.

“Patience, dongsaeng. Please, just for now.”

“Noona, I’m bored! How long are we gonna stay here?” He pouted.

“I don’t know. It won’t be that lo-“

“Seojin?” Mrs. Kim interrupted me

“Yes?”

“Can you guys come in please?”

“Of course” I took Joonhee and Kyungwoo with me inside and sat on the floor.

“We’ve talked about it” Mr. Kim began

There was a long pause. Like really long. About a 2 minute pause.

“And we’ve considered” he said with a smile.

I tried my best to sound calm. “Really?”

“Yeah! You guys are great kids” he said pinching Kyungwoo’s cheeks. He giggled.

“Just don’t tell your Uncle about it. We’ll be leaving tomorrow then. When you “leave for school,” immediately come here” Mrs. Kim said.

I looked at Kyungwoo who was smiling at me and Joonhee who seemed to be laughing at something she just read.

“Asaso~”
