Ask Us

I'm just a child,

Someone no one looks twice at,

When they're deciding my fate,

My life.

They debate over it,

Pour over it with their beady eyes,

Their twitching hands,

Evil smiles planted on their faces.

They say they're helping,

I know they're not.

They work day and night,

Deciding my fate.

It's not fair,

Not fair for them to have so much power,

Over my life.

How they can say something,

And I have to do it?

Why?  Is it something I do,

Something WE do?

Because you're not helping us.

You're making our lives harder.

Just ask us,

If you really want an answer.

You want to know what will benefit us,

Ask us.

You hold too much power,

Making us small,

Little,

Unimportant.

We are the youth,

The people who will hold power,

Over you,

Your family,

Your life.

Think of us in decisions,

Let us in on discussions.

We're smarter than we look.

Just ask us.

This is something I definitely feel strongly about.  I am not a child, I'm a teen, but I put myself into the category of child because of the fact that my life is in the hands of adults.  One thing I want to get straight though, is that I don't think that adults shouldn't have power over youth, they should just ask us what we think.
