I was at my locker, trying to sneak a few looks at him when he turned in my direction. My eyes widened before I turned my head to face my locker, hoping he didn't catch me staring.

"Hey, you ready to go to lunch?" I look to see my friend, Grisell, walking up to me with a knowing smile on her face.

I ignore the look she's giving me but reply with "Yeah, one second." I took one last look at him and then shut my locker and started to walk to the cafeteria with Grisell.

"Are you ever going to tell Ben you like him?" she whispered. Ben was the boy I've had a crush on since the beginning of the year and my friends refuse to let me forget that I haven't told him.

"I don't know, I doubt it. I can barely talk to him without my heart trying to beat out of my chest. How the heck am I supposed to tell him I like him?"

"I don't know, but you've had a crush on him for like, a year now, you should tell him." Her voice was starting to get loud.

"Would you keep it down, I don't need the whole world knowing." I said, a little anger in my voice.

"Sorry."

"I don't have to tell him and besides he doesn't even like me back."

"You don't know that. He could," she said, so convinced that she was right.

"I doubt it."

When we got to the cafeteria, Dora and Michelle were already at our usual table. Grisell and I sat down and I ate my lunch without saying much.

When the bell rang for the end of lunch, we all headed to our science class. We were getting our partners for our science project today and I was excited to know who I would be working with.

When I walked in, Ben was already there.

'He is so cute' I thought.

About five minutes into class, Mr. Tucker started announcing project partners and when he said Samantha and Ben, my heart stopped and I froze. I saw Michelle, Dora, and Grisell looking at me and smirking. I then glanced over at Ben, who was already looking at me before focusing my attention.

It was going to be a long project.

Then Mr. Tucker said, "Get with your partners and talk about some possible topics for your project."

Ben walked over to where I was sitting and sat in the empty seat next to me. My heart was beating so loud I was afraid he could hear it.

"So any ideas for the project?" he asked.

"Well I had a few."

"Let me hear them," he encouraged, giving me a smile.

I felt my cheeks turn red, but I told him some of my ideas and he sat there listening. He then gave me some of his ideas and we wrote down the ones we both liked. I glanced over a couple times at my friends who were constantly looking at us smiling while talking to their partners.

When class ended, Ben and I had about five possible ideas that we both liked. Mr. Tucker said the project was due in two weeks and we needed a topic by Friday which was in two days. So Ben and I agreed to meet at the library after school today to decide a topic.

After science, the day seemed to go by so slow. When it finally ended, I raced to the library to find Ben already there, sitting at a table by the dictionaries.

"Hey," I said as I sat down next to him.

"Hey," He replied. There goes that smile again making my cheeks go red, "So what topic do you think we should do?"

"I like the one about the bread molding," I said, hoping my voice didn't shake too much.

"Me too."

"So should we do that one then?" I asked.

"Sounds like a plan."

The Next day, I was sitting in the cafeteria and, of course, all my friends were asking about my time with Ben.

"So how was it?" asked Michelle.

"It was good."

"So do you think he likes you?" asked Grisell anxiously.

"I don't know. But I think I like him more than I did before," I said shyly

"Awwwww!" They all said at the same time.

"And I think I'm going to tell him," I said confidently.

They all looked at me, shocked, yet happy before another chorus of "aww"'s broke out and I fought to not roll my eyes at them.

That Saturday, Ben and I were sitting in my room, me on my bed and Ben on the computer. I was trying to figure how to tell him that I like him while he was doing some research on our project.

"So," he said, "according to this website I found, when bread is left out it takes about a week to mold. So, we should start today so it will mold in time."

"Sounds good," I wasn't really listening as I was too wrapped up in my thoughts.

"Are you okay? You seem a little distracted" he asked.

"Uh yeah, there's just something I need to tell you,"I said kind of nervous.

"Ok, What?"

He then came over and sat down next to me on my bed. I could feel my heartbeat picking with his proximity to me.

"Since the beginning of the year, I've had a crush on you. I never told you because I didn't think you felt the same."

As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt another pair of lips on mine and it felt amazing.

"I feel the exact same way," he said when he pulled away.

I should have listened to my friends a whole lot sooner but I'm glad I finally did it. I couldn't have been happier.
