Once upon a time near a burrow in the earth occupied by an owl with very large golden eyes near a pond by a slough next to Sky Cloud Park on a penninsula that emptied into the San Francisco Bay, there was an ethical vegan who rode her blue hybrid bike with nylon saddlebags, looking for Burrowing Owls. She did not see any owls, again, but she saw a hawk, a squirrel, a black crowned night heron, three hares, an egret and a great blue heron.
