When I was a kid I used to be so curious;
I wanted to know why grown ups looked so serious
Why they always carried the weight of the world on their shoulder
And why every time I asked what's wrong they told me ''it's complicated
;You'd get it when you're older"
Back then you could get away with anything just because you were a kid
And if you didn't get along with people you'd create your own imaginary best friend
You believed deep inside that you'd forever keep the joy and fun
But little that you knew; things are easier said than done
As we grew older we faked smiles just to please;
Our worries increased and our laughs ceased
We used to think that the world is a safe place where you can trust anyone with a friendly face
Now you know it's not the case; people are wearing masks hiding their ugly intentions that they'd later reveal
And the world you once loved is full of too much evil that if you hadn't seen for yourself you wouldn't believe it's real
There's hunger and fear and people who turned off their humanity filling the world with sorrow and despair
Everything stopped making sense and there are broken hearts everywhere
But still you look for innocence where ever you go and you hold on to the ones who don't know what you now know
You seek comfort in a child's sweet embrace;
Finding joy on the pure smile on their face
You see the good in people trying to over see their mistakes
You try to make it work trusting them again and doing whatever it takes
Every now and then I find myself deep in thought till everything around me vanishes in to space
And here comes my little cousin asking about the frown on my face and why I look like I'm carrying the weight of the world on my shoulder
And I find myself answering her'' it's complicated you'd get it when you're older"
little that she knows; her world won't look the same when she grows
