A Working Man

Francis wiped the sweat off of his brow, grinning. He loved a good day of work. He stood tiredly, looking at the new road beneath him. The cobblestone street of a city named Paris.

Francis dreamed of the day when Paris would be huge and successful as a city. It's economy and people thriving.

Brushing dust off his pants, the worker proceeded to the Seine to splash water on his face. He looked over his reflection in the water. Hair pulled back, cement smeared everywhere, rips and tears in his clothing at odd places. Francis laughed at himself. He was quite a site but it'd all be worth it when the street was done.

This city was going to be great one day and he helped build it. Just thinking about it made him shiver with joy.

Francis stood again and looked around. The buildings around him were white and beautiful. They seemed to be big for the time but the man could tell they were going to get even bigger by time.

This city, his city, was beautiful. And he was ever so proud of it; he always would be.
