            “What do I do?” I asked as I stumbled out of the cell.

            “Well, first you get some blood on you and then when we take you out on  raid, you will be close enough to get into their minds, find out their plan but you will not be close enough to communicate with them.” Grayson said, helping me stand up.

            “I hate you.” His whole body stiffened. I looked at him, he looked miserable, for a split second it looked like he hated his life, and then, he shook it off.

            “Come on, you need blood.”

            “Who are you going to offer me this time? Your humans taste too much like wolf; I mean they do have wolf in their blood.”

            “Me.”

            “What?” I asked as he helped me up the stairs.

            “Well, no one’s blood seems to work for you like mine, so I am offering you my blood.”

            “But…no, no I can't.” I said, he gave up and started carrying me. He set me down on his bed and he took a knife from his drawer. “What are you going to do with that?” I asked, and then he sliced his wrist. “What the hell!” I started but then the smell of blood hit me. I didn't think, I just reacted.

            I pulled his wrist to my mouth and I drank. The taste was unlike anything before, it was bitter but sweet, sour but soothing, it was every good flavor in the world, in one wonderful mixture.

            I pulled myself away and then the exhaustion finally kicked in and I passed out.

                                                ~~~~~~~~
            “Lana.” Someone shook me, I mumbled and I tried to push him/her away. “Oh good Lord child, get up!”
            I opened my eyes to a blinding light and I knew immediately I was not in Grayson’s room.
            “Where am I?” I looked around and I saw my mother looking at me. “What are you doing here?”
            “I heard they took you, the wolves I mean and I have to tell you something that I was supposed to tell you earlier.”
            “Your gift? Wait, where are we and how are you talking to me? I looked around and I saw nothing but white, I couldn’t tell the difference between the ground and the ceiling because they were the same color.
            “That’s what I'm explaining. It’s not really my gift, it’s our entire bloodlines gift, except my mother hasn’t figured it out and Angelina did not inherit the Kiss of Death.”
            “You know about Angelina?”
            “Of course, my mother had a child; did you really think I wouldn’t notice? She looks just like her! Nevertheless, that doesn't matter right now. I need to explain to you something special about the Kiss of Death, okay?”
            I nodded.
            “When you kiss someone who is a vampire born, someone with powers, and you use your Kiss of Death, you can take their powers.”
            “What do you mean?”
            “Fifty years ago, I used my Kiss of Death on someone who was a vampire born, I thought it would kill them but as I was using it I felt something…different and all of the sudden I could see into the future, I took their gift, Lana. They could still use it of course, but so could I. That’s how I’m talking to you right now, I used that trick on someone three years ago and now I can communicate through dreams. But it wears off after four or five years.”
