Felicity shown in our outstretched smiles.

When we are together,

qualms fade leaving footsteps of rejoiced memories.

Our laughter engraved in old building walls,

setting snuggly in the winter mist.

We would never part, we've sworn.

We promised, we would never be torn.

Autumn leaves swayed in the wind, anticipating the time when

we'd say our goodbyes,

we'd sweep tears from our eyes,

we'd have a few laughs, smile a few smiles, change our views about the world when

reality startles our thoughts.

What have we made of ourselves?

I weep over humanity

that has made our smiles now forlorn and forced.

Nothing will ever be like it once was.

Our memories forever treasured

in a chamber of our frayed hearts.
