Selfish.
They were all selfish. All we as humans wanted to do was find a way to be stronger, faster, smarter, and even live longer. Maybe this plague was karma. Maybe it was just that we were asking for it.
There were those that were lucky enough to die. I sometimes wonder why I survived. I also wonder why I just don’t end my life before the fatal epidemic does. Then, I look over at my family.
Not my blood family, but my makeshift family.
The Defender, The Assistant, and I.
Our roads crossed eventually and we have been there through each other’s loss and suffering. We were each other’s motivation to find a cure, to survive this.
Days aren’t just numbers; they’re our experience.
