A Girl from Palestine

Born to an unjust world,
Her eyes flutter open to see a sword.
A gun is directed towards her father's head.
In a matter of seconds, he falls to the floor and he's dead.
Her piercing scream fills the room.
She's just a girl from Palestine.

Her mum's body is lying next to hers, cold and lifeless.
Now, the girl is utterly hopeless.
"Mum, Dad, wake up! I have no place to call 'home',"
" 'We promise to protect you,' you'd sworn!"
She screams and screams, but they don't hear her.
She's just a girl from Palestine.

What can she do?
Where can she escape to?
She lays helpless on the ground.
She starts to sob and whine.
She's just a girl from Palestine.

Her lips go dry, her face goes pale, she's crying.
Because every day, right in front of her, she sees people dying,
She lost hope in the world,
But her faith in Allah is good as gold.
She snatches her Quran from the enemy's grip and screams "This is mine."
She's just a girl from Palestine.

She has had enough of the corruption
She has had enough of the oppression.
This conflict is lasting for too long, I think.
The ship of peace is about to sink.

The girl wishes if only she can pay a bail.
But no, she's stuck in this jail.
It's a non-ending zone of war.
She's been screaming for hours and now her throat is sore.
She's forced to watch bullets shooting by.
Her eyes witness horrific sights and she lets out a sigh.
She's wondering what wrong has she done?
She's just a girl from Palestine.

This is the story of a whole population that's been suffering for ages.
They're going to fight for their rights even if you lock them up in cages.
If you read history, you'll understand,
All they want is their holy piece of land.
They just want to live without war.
Is that too much to ask for?

It's their right to have a nation.
But there's a lot of devastation.
They're being bombed for no reason.
Thousands and thousands are killed every season.

You take their land, you kill their family, and you destroy their homes,
Then you have no shame to call them terrorists
for trying to fight back with a couple of stones?
Sorry, but I'm not sorry. This is the truth that I speak right from my heart; hence,
Let me remind you Israel, that killing an 11-year old is not self-defense.
Calm down and count to ten.
Face it; if 9/11 deserves a moment of silence,
then Palestine deserves that we never speak again.
