Sofia Kennedy's P.O.V.

I pushed open the door to the school dining room and scanned the room. There. There he was. The mass of floppy, blonde hair and chocolate-brown eyes. Matthew Holder.

I quickly grabbed the nearest tray of food and ran over to the table he was on. I dropped the tray on the table and wrapped my arms around him, "Ohhh, I've missed you so much!" I fought back tears.

"Hey, Fia, I haven't been gone that long!" He chuckled.

I nodded, "Still. I still missed you."

He pulled back, "I missed you too."

Luckily there was no one else on our table or they would have been hooting with laughter at this soppy moment.

I'm Sofia Kennedy. 16 and a year eleven pupil at St. Marjorie's in London. Yep, that's what I just said...London. In boring, old England. Boring, old, cold England, I mean. Anyway...kind of gone off track here...I'm Sofia Kennedy. I have ringletty, browny-black hair and chocolate-brown eyes. I have one, very annoying, little brother who is seven called Carter. I often spend all my time at Matt's house because of this.

Matt's an only child. Well, a recently only child. That's why he's been away. his older sister was in a car accident...and, well...I think you can sort of guess what happened to her. I haven't seen him for about a month, apart from the occasional visit and the funeral, of course. Him and his family have been mourning at home and I thought it best to leave them be.

Matt and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember. Our parents met at university and have been best friends ever since. Matt and I generally hang out by together at school, although, he has his group of guy friends and I have my group of girl friends.

Anyway, back to the dining room...

"So...how are things at home?" I had to ask.

He shrugged, "So-so. Mum and dad are trying to put on a brave face but..." His voice trailed off at the end. I knew tears were on the verge of exploding out of his eyes. I took this as a hint to change the subject.

"Are you going to Lisa's party tonight?" I opened my bag of crisps and popped one in my mouth.

He nodded, "Yeah, Alex and Jay are giving me a lift. We can stop by your house if you want?"

"Nah, that's ok. Rachel and Bonnie are coming to mine to get ready before. Thanks, though."

He took a crisp out of my packet before picking up his tray.

"Where you going?" I asked.

He tapped his nose, "Ahhh, that's for me to know and for you to find out!"

I looked at him, eyebrows raised.

"Ok, ok, the head's asked me to visit her after lunch. Probably just to check everything's alright with my schoolwork and stuff. Even though mum's been homeschooling me, I'm still pretty behind."

I waved my hand dismissively, "Go, go, I'll see you in Art."

He saluted at me and sped out of the dining room.
