Colony - 4/6/13
I sail the darkness,
searcher of orbits
and waters extant.
Complexity of life,
diversity of habitat,
percentage of oxygen combine
and lead me sunwise to a world.
Beneath moist atmosphere,
protected by magnetic fields
I analyse the biota,
observing genomes,
identifying pathogens.
Sagas of evolution,
orations of ecology,
lectures of cycles,
matrix upon relationship,
fills the acceptable parameters.
What now of this worlds complex
suitability for habitation.
What now of the integrity
of native genetics,
and the intimate interdependence of life.
Of the water cycle uniting geography with being?
Of biomes mutated by tectonic forces.
Of colonisation's genetic pollution and a planets death.
